Position Summary:
The Pallet Supervisor Assistant supports the Pallet Supervisor in overseeing daily pallet production operations, including quality control, scheduling, and team performance. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, mechanical experience, and a commitment to safety, productivity, and communication across teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist with daily pallet production operations.
- Utilize nail gun and operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently (minimum 5 years of experience required).
- Conduct daily meetings with lift operators; distribute production sheets and instructions using templates.
- Check each jig setup for correct material grade, size, and required safety items. Ensure QC checklists are completed (including night-before prep).
- Retrain new hires as needed and verify proper stacking procedures are being followed.
- Perform quality checks on product and provide real-time feedback.
- Maintain and update daily lists for shop needs (e.g., cleanup tasks, maintenance issues, special projects).
- Ensure quality, productivity, and production sheet accuracy are up to date and inform employees if they are on or off schedule.
- Track overruns and trash needing to be processed; log pallets needing repairs.
- Provide consistent updates to all logs and quality records in the same standardized format.
- Communicate employee productivity percentages regularly.
- Monitor employee break and lunch return times.
- Delegate additional duties and responsibilities to the production team as needed.
- Notify sales and shipping departments of any potential production delays.
- Spend time daily in the shop to observe workflow and provide hands-on support.
- Check the main office regularly for sales orders ready to schedule.
- Conduct 11:00 a.m. daily meetings to review live inventory and ensure orders are scheduled and visible.
- Deliver daily production schedule to lift operator and inform pallet builders when to shut down.
- Ensure all jigs are cleaned and set properly for the following day’s operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising in a production or warehouse setting
- Proficient in nail gun use and heavy machinery operation (minimum 5 years)
- Strong leadership and delegation skills
- High attention to detail, especially in quality control and safety standards
- Reliable, organized, and capable of multitasking
- Comfortable communicating across departments (sales, shipping, operations)
- Forklift certification is preferred
