Accurate Personnel is hiring immediately for an EHS Maintenance Specialist to join our client in Aurora, IL. As an EHS Maintenance Specialist you will have responsibility for EHS planning, administrating, and overseeing workforce safety. Your primary duties are to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries. Pay, Schedule, and Location

  • Pay Rate is $38/hour, paid weekly

  • Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm or 8am to 5pm

  • Located in Aurora, IL

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform EHS assignments using 5S and safety concepts and principles to anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate EHS hazards at the plant

  • Lead EHS improvement, conducts Job Safety Analysis, and represent EHS efforts in meetings and coordinates with regulatory agencies, emergency responders, risk insurers, internal customers on safety issues

  • Ensure all incidents and near miss reports are investigated and documented properly - with adequacy and completeness - and ensures that identified corrective actions are implemented and corrected to prevent re-occurrence

  • Responsible for developing and conducting plant EHS training and ensuring proper communication of health and safety issues

  • Create or Review existing EHS policies and revise policies as needed

  • Conduct periodic emergency drills

  • Manage compliance, plant safety statistics/data management, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements

  • Implement, maintain/continue improvement of EHS procedures and processes

  • Maintain plant inspection process, provide assignments, and follow up on results

  • Prepare and maintain OSHA logs

  • Experience in emergency response and holds First Aid and CPR certificates

  • Experience in workers compensation case management

  • Handles confidential matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace

  • Lockout / tagout expert. Must have basic electrical, mechanical knowledge of machine operation (2D, 3D, press break, kuris, etc.)

  • Familiar with machine repair using blueprints and instructions to replace fixtures, gauges and parts

  • Adjust machines for production as needed

  • Able to support in the installation of new equipment including hook up of electrical power, gas, water, air, etc.

  • Maintain and install piping, fittings, valves, gauges, and other controls for hydraulic systems, gas, and air lines

  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints

  • Support machines for production when adjustment is beyond the scope of the operator

  • Troubleshoot machinery electrical components

  • Ability to plan and lay out work, to determine accuracy and efficiency methods and diagnoses while correcting difficulties to minimize production interruptions

  • Works with contractors and vendors

  • Makes rounds for inspection to make sure equipment is being properly utilized and unaltered standards

  • Observes equipment appearance and condition and makes reports of needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor or services

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills - with the ability to effectively address multiple client service requests and communicate to diverse audiences

  • Clear understanding of OSHA regulations and HSE programs (including but not limited to emergency response, hazard recognition, ergonomics, LOTO, confined space, etc.)

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal ability to work cross-departmentally, with regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal. Must interact with other parties constructively on HSE issues

  • Positive attitude and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, often mandated externally

  • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately

  • Microsoft Office experience
