HIRING IMMEDIATELY: ID / OD GRINDER IN CARPENTERSVILLE, IL
Accurate Personnel is hiring immediately for an ID / OD Grinder to join our client in Carpentersville, IL. This individual will be responsible for setting up and operating all or any of the external grinding machines to grind external cylindrical surfaces of rotating metal workpieces or arbors, analyzing blueprints, shop orders, and specifications and selecting tooling according to knowledge of grinding procedures. Pay, Schedule, and Location
- Starting at $17 to $18.50/hour, paid weekly
- Excellent benefits package: Medical, Dental, and Vision
- Monday - Friday 8 hours shifts, possible some OT on the weekends
- Located in Carpentersville, IL
Duties and Responsibilities
- Studies the blueprint or the shop order to visualize grinding to be done and plans the sequence of events.
- Familiar with ANSI standards and the industrial catalog.
- Dresses the wheel manually or with preset device.
- Grinds arbors as required for the job.
- Grinds centers as required for the job.
- Holds tolerances of less than .0002 for diameter and concentricity for single and double diameters.
- Communicates well with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
- Grind angles and hold tolerances of less than 30 minutes.
- Moves controls and reads dials to grind workpiece between centers.
- Selects and sets work surface speed, in feed, and travel rate of powered table, and selects the proper wheel grade for the job.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Between 2 and 4 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience or apprenticeship
- Required to have experience with similar machines or materials
- The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- Visual Acuity: near acuity and accommodation required for reading machine dial gages, blueprints, shop orders, and precision measuring.
- Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate actions.
