Job Description

Our client is a leading global provider of engineered solutions, power grid and microwave tubes and related consumables. This position will handle PCB Layout and manage the integrity of the PCB database. Interprets customer applications and works with Engineering and Program Management on providing customer solutions. Provides follow-up support and disseminates technical information for specific applications.

Job Overview:

  • Create and maintain components into the PCB library (including schematic symbol, footprints, 3D geometry)

  • Understand electronic symbols and basic circuit purpose and functions

  • Implement strategic layouts with proper planning for power and ground, ESD, and EMC

  • Collaborate with the Mechanical Engineering Team to establish board outlines and keep-outs Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering Team to import schematics, establish part placement, layer strategy, test and programming, and understand the design goals & requirements

  • Implement layouts following PCB tool design rules, processes & lessons learned, as well an understanding of cost tradeoffs and board fabrication constraints

  • Keen awareness of quality, cost and project schedules

  • Prepare fabrication/quote files, prints, and Bills of Material as needed to printed circuit board fabrication firms, contract manufacturers, and Solder stencil fabricators

  • Work on new designs as well as maintain and update old designs, including on occasion importing or converting PCBs from other sources

  • Act as OrCAD system administrator for the department, including handling updates and verifying everyone is on the same version

  • Contribute to maintaining and improving the Printed Circuit Board Layout process to ensure high quality

  • Attends and participates in engineering meetings

  • Maintains project details to insure effective communication and information tracking

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout experience

  • Minimum 5 years Allegro/Cadence OrCAD experience

  • Minimum 5 years 3D Modeling and Design experience

  • Strong Attention to detail and quality

  • Able to lay out RF and communication circuits

  • Understanding of PCB manufacturing and the effect on circuit design

  • Proficient in Windows, MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solidworks experience is a plus
