Job Title: HR Generalist
Location: Joliet, IL
Pay: $24-29/hr
Position Summary
The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing day-to-day HR operations, including payroll administration, benefits coordination, employee relations, safety programs, and compliance with employment regulations. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for employees, ensuring that workplace culture is positive, communication is effective, and all HR processes are executed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process and monitor weekly payroll, ensuring employee hours are recorded correctly.
- Maintain and update employee information in ADP, ensuring timely setup for new hires to begin work on their start date.
- Manage benefits enrollment and assist employees with benefits questions and issues.
- Act as a trusted resource for employees regarding workplace issues, concerns, and policy interpretation.
- Address and resolve discrepancies and conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
- Partner with leadership to build and maintain a strong, collaborative, and inclusive workplace culture
- Oversee the company’s safety program to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
- Partner with managers and supervisors to implement safety training and corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain all HR records including I-9s, E-Verify documentation, W-9s, and personnel files in compliance with company and federal requirements.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new employees, including documentation, orientation, and systems setup.
- Ensure all employee files are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
- Provide reporting and insights to management regarding workforce trends, payroll, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP preferred) and benefits administration.
- Experience with employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations
- Familiarity with I-9, E-Verify, W-9, and employment documentation requirements.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote safety and culture initiatives.
