Position Summary:
The Mill Production Supervisor I is responsible for leading and overseeing daily mill operations in a fast-paced lumber manufacturing and remanufacturing environment. This individual must be experienced with pallet production processes, capable of operating heavy machinery, and skilled in team leadership, safety, and productivity optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all activities related to mill production, including scheduling shifts and assigning tasks.
- Operate and oversee use of heavy production equipment including Edger, Trimline, Holtec, Morgan, Pendu, Woodmizer, and Chop Saw.
- Schedule and track routine maintenance for all machinery to minimize downtime.
- Ensure safe, clean, and organized working conditions in compliance with company policies.
- Lead by example with a strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to teamwork.
- Monitor and improve production efficiency, product quality, and overall output.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase productivity.
- Provide guidance and training to team members; assist with building and developing a high-performing crew.
- Take notes, follow through on directions, and maintain accurate logs and records as required.
- Communicate effectively across departments, including maintenance, safety, and logistics.
- Be physically able to lift 15–45 lbs and work at least 8-hour shifts with flexibility for overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in lumber manufacturing, remanufacturing, or pallet production is required.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisor or team lead experience in a production environment.
- Strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to build, train, and inspire a successful team from the ground up.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mill operations.
- Must be comfortable operating and troubleshooting production machinery.
