Job Title: Regional Logistics Manager
Reports to: Logistics General Manager
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt
Note: This operation runs 24/7, and individual schedules are determined by volume and client needs. Weekend availability is required and the facility is only closed three days each year.
Job Purpose:
The Regional Logistics Manager provides functional guidance to employees regarding the planning and support of operations. This role ensures operations are managed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to)
  • Provide transportation guidance to operations managers, managing workflow and integrating all functions within the site.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with company Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure all training and adherence to policies, reporting non-conformances for correction.
  • Oversee carrier selection for optimal efficiency, proper communication, and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as point of contact for carriers and maintain proactive follow-up to build strong relationships.
  • Manage documentation and reports, ensuring timely processing for reporting and billing purposes.
  • Document communications via email and telephone to ensure carrier performance meets expectations.
  • Negotiate terms and rates for shippers and carriers when contracts or systems are not in place.
  • Monitor and record carrier performance and work with operations managers to continuously improve processes and services.
  • Exercise discretion and good judgment, understanding the impact of decisions on overall operations.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during shipments.
  • Evaluate and develop employee and operational performance to meet expectations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and lead by example.
  • Foster a positive work environment and support team morale.
  • Participate in meetings and work extended hours, including holidays, as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Step in during the absence of key individuals to maintain smooth operations.
  • Remain available as required; company-provided cell phone and laptop will assist in managing needs outside normal business hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in transportation or logistics, including customer processing, route delivery, and operational procedures.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a manager, supervisor, or lead position in traffic or related field.
  • Understanding of DOT rules, vehicle weight capacity, and load specifications.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage stress and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Computer System Skills:
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for load processing, quote requests, shipment tracking, etc.
  • Preferred experience with Truck Mate, PC Miler, Fleetmatics, RoadNet.
  • Strong analytical skills, including data extraction, compilation, and analysis.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and lead a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support areas of responsibility.
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in a distribution center environment with varying temperatures.
