Position Overview
As the Human Resources Manager, you’ll be the heartbeat of the HR operations across both sites. You’ll lead recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and training initiatives all while cultivating a workplace culture that values transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This is a high-impact role for a strategic HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and understands the nuances of both union and non-union dynamics.
Pay & Schedule
- Ranging from $80,000 - $90,000/year
- Excellent benefits package: Medical, Dental, Vision
- Monday-Friday 8 hour shift (overtime available)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end recruitment efforts to attract top talent
- Develop job descriptions, conduct interviews, and manage onboarding
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates
- Serve as a trusted resource for employee concerns and HR inquiries
- Resolve conflicts and foster a positive, inclusive work environment
- Champion employee engagement initiatives across both locations
- Maintain strong union relationships; facilitate labor management meetings and grievance resolution
- Oversee goal-setting, performance reviews, and feedback cycles
- Drive employee development, training, and succession planning
- Implement performance improvement plans when needed
- Ensure full compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and EEO standards
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR documentation
- Administer compensation programs, benefits, and payroll
- Conduct market research to ensure competitive offerings
- Resolve payroll and benefit-related issues
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate learning opportunities
- Support leadership development and career growth initiatives
- Promote workplace safety and wellness programs
- Partner with operations to ensure a safe and healthy environment
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategy with business goals
- Analyze HR metrics and report on trends and outcomes
- Support change management and internal communications
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven HR leadership experience in a manufacturing setting; union experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
- Strategic thinker with hands-on execution ability
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive information
- Collaborative leadership style and people-first mindset
- Travel required to East Chicago location
