Job description:

Job Title: Quality Engineer
Pay: $85,000 - $95,000 (+ yearly bonus)
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (onsite)

Position Overview:
Provide engineering support to optimize workflows, troubleshoot problems, and ensure compliance with aerospace and defense specifications and requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to maintain high standards of quality and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support to optimize workflows and resolve production issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to meet quality expectations.
  • Support compliance with industry standards such as AS9100 and Nadcap.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within a team-based environment.
  • Develop and maintain process metrics to evaluate effectiveness and drive improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective actions, providing training as necessary.
  • Monitor non-conformance trends and evaluate corrective action effectiveness.
  • Assist in the preparation, execution, and completion of quality audits.
  • Promote and comply with safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent experience required.
  • Hands-on experience in a production or manufacturing environment; special processing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, Lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools. ASQ certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Skilled in root cause problem-solving methods such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, and 5 Whys.
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, CRM, Microsoft Office, and engineering drafting/modeling tools.
  • Strong skills in quantitative data analysis, measurement systems, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to write technical reports and procedures.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Advanced computer literacy preferred.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports To:
The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
